About a month ago I attended an event held by West Coast Creative Company. The company (run by Tara of Suburble and Crystal of Sew Creative below with the sheep) hosts creative events for bloggers every couple of months. Besides being a fun night of hanging out with other bloggers, there were great sponsors, eats, wine, and grab bags! Seriously a win-win-win kind of night:)
The event was held at the 4 Cats Gallery in Kerrisdale. We started off listening to inspiring talks by Deland of Counting Sheep Coffee and Sky Marcano of the Mandala Sky clothing line (right above). While listening to them share their business success stories, we were treated to tastes of Milestone’s fall menu (delicious) and glasses of Haywire wine (oh so fine:).
Then the creativity began. Simone, the owner of 4 Cats Kerrisdale, gave us all a canvas and a palate of paint. Step-by-step, she guided us through creating a painting of flowers inspired by the stylings of Van Gogh. Between strokes of paint brushes we chatted, tweeted, laughed, and, yes the wine may have played a role, a few of us even sang.
All of the above beautiful photos were taken by Lindsay Faber Photography.
One highlight of the night for me was meeting the creative force behind Moo and the Bear jewelry. I have admired her jewelry for a while. Just to put it out there, official Christmas list request: one of her necklaces with initial tags and beads for each of my children (like photo left but on one chain). The super funny thing was I knew her! We used to teach together. It was a “small world” moment. Also, I just love when someone follows a creative dream and finds success. All the best to you!! At the end of this fabulous night we got sent home with a swag bag. I’m that kid who was just as excited about the loot bag as the actual party so you can imagine how excited I was to get an adult loot bag! It contained:
- Cloth Bag from Superstore
- Chalk Paint from Plaid
- Folk Art Paint from Plaid
- Mod Podge Furniture from Plaid
- Stencils from Royal Design Studio Stencils (mine was a dove)
- Party Supplies from Pick Your Plum
- Coffee from Counting Sheep Coffee
- Custom Designed T-Shirt from Mandala Sky
(Thanks to Jamie from So Much Better With Age for her beautiful gift bag photo!)
Lastly, here are my photos of our final products:
So, West Coast Creative, just waiting for the next event!
