Math Books

I’ve already admitted how I have a break down of fiction and non-fiction books I get for the kids (type A, type A!).  The non-fiction books often include a math book or two.

I’ve actually been impressed by the number of math books available for kids.  Here are some we have taken out in recent weeks:

The great thing about the books is not only do they introduce number concepts but they have also opened up a dialogue that continues into other conversations we have.  They have given me ideas of how to bring up number concepts with the kids in fun ways so that when the opportunity strikes, I can make up similar number stories with them (on walks or in stores, for example).

It all adds up (pun intended) to more fun and more opportunities for learning!
