In honour of our friends who celebrate Hanukkah we are doing some Hanukkah themed toddler art over the next two weeks (the first night of Hanukkah is November 27th this year). Our first project with this topic in mind also is a great exercise for fine motor skills.
Supplies:
- Foam sheets
- Glue
- Hole punch
- Shoe laces
Method:
1) I cut out a couple of simple shapes from a foam sheet. I did a dreidel and a Star of David.
2) Then I punched holes around the edges of the shapes. For one, I spaced the holes out more and the other I made them closer together so one would be easier and one would be harder.
3) I found one sheet of foam a bit thin so I had C help me glue another foam sheet to the first. He LOVES painting so this was just painting with glue. It was easier to cut the shape and punch the holes with just one and then follow those cuts/holes for the second after the glue was dry but you could do it the other way around if you’d prefer.
Add in a shoe lace and you are all done! I have found this is a great busy bag item for when you need a couple minutes to complete a task without a toddler underfoot. So consider this idea a Hanukkah gift (a gift of time!) from me to you:)
