Thankful 3 Things Thursday

Thought a thankful 3 Things Thursday was in keeping with an appropriate post to do just before Thanksgiving weekend.  Recently there have been people who have helped me that I want to give a shout-out to.  This help has ranged from friend-to-friend help, random individual help, and one example of an absolute random act of kindness.

  1. I am thankful to friends who have helped me out when adjusting to having a newborn in tow.  From the friend who helped me organise baby clothes, to the friend who came to mop my floors, to the friends who have brought food, to the friend who helped me reorganise my bedroom furniture to achieve a more “zen” space (so loving the changes).

2.  I am thankful to the barista at Starbucks who gave me a “freebie” drink when I finally got out of the house for a quiet couple of hours only to realise I forgot my wallet.  I was given a complimentary drink and thus was able to sip away at a chia tea latte in peace for two hours.  It was lovely.

3. I am thankful to the lady at No Frills who rescued me when I was stuck to pay my bill.  I shopped for groceries with three children in tow, waited with said children in line for a good 15 minutes, and then went to pay for my groceries only to realise I only had my VISA and No Frills doesn’t take VISA (Seriously?!)…  I had just asked the cashier to suspend my bill so I could go the block to the closest bank machine with my three children when a random lady reached over and tapped my bill.  She paid for my $152 charge with a tap of her bank card and it was done.  When I told her that I couldn’t accept what she had done and to please wait while I went to get money, she simply said that someone had helped her out in the past when she needed it and she was happy to pay it forward.  Then she was gone.

Those instances range in experience from small gestures to larger ones and from known friends to random people and yet they have all helped to make my life irrevocably better these past few months.

Thank you all for your acts of kindness and caring.  It has all been more appreciated than I fully have words to express.

For all the frustrations and difficult dealings in life, it is good to be reminded that there are so many lovely people in the world.  I look forward to opportunities to pay it forward myself when occasions arise.  This is one cycle I will happily continue.

May you too have many things to be thankful for this season.
